Imperial Assault Hunger Games Variant

I’ve talked a little about the prep of my Imperial Assault Hunger Games variant in both concept and execution but I wanted to take a minute to go over the full variant as we played it and how you can duplicate it if you want.

There have been several Hunger Games variants floating around for games like Imperial Assault and they all center around a central basic idea: multiple players deathmatch on a fixed board with each player controlling a single model until the game whittles down to the last figure standing.  To simulate more of the Hunger Game’s theme, a cache of goodies lie at the center of map for players to pick up and use throughout the game.  A lot of these matches like to break the game’s fundamental rules in some way by offering the ability to pick new items/powers/weapons regardless of whether the figure can legally use it.  They also work best with a lot of players in the game to maximize the board and ramp up the chaos factor.

Metal Comes to Batman

I’m back from our CabinCon weekend and haven’t quite gotten everything unpacked yet but I did see some awesome news coming out of Knight Models.

Bounty Hunters and Ugly Pieces Of Ship

Sorry, no Walking Dead Wednesday today. I’ve been too focused on the upcoming CabinCon to work on anything else over the week.  The trip is nearly upon us and I’m just barely making it through.  Today, I finished up my bounty hunters and I think they turned out pretty well for blitzing through everything.

I don’t have a lot of time so I’ll just run through the rest of my shots of the bounty hunters from Imperial Assault as well as my Star Wars Uglies conversions.

CabinCon 2018 Prep

Tomorrow starts our annual CabinCon trip filled with games, games, and more games up in the confines of a nice secluded cabin.  It’s a great chance to meet up with old friends and hit games that we usually don’t have time for or pulling out old favorites.

Every year, I try to throw out something unique and memorable and so this year I’m trying out a “Hunger Games” variant for Imperial Assault’s skirmish rules.  I like the theme of a bunch of Bounty Hunters getting thrown together to fight it out Battle Royale style so I picked up all the Bounty Hunters I could find and decided to go the extra mile and try to get them painted before the Con.  We’ll see if I can wrap them up in time.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Last Of the Miles Behind Us Expansion

Not much time this past week but I did finish up several more survivors.  This time it’s time to finish out the ladies of the Greene family.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Barn Raisin’

After having printed up another piece of paper terrain to complete my scenery needs for the Miles Behind Us campaign for The Walking Dead: All Out War, I finally tackle building the simple barn from Stoelzel’s Structures line of paper terrain.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Farmville

I’m still working on the farm material for the Miles Behind Us scenarios and this time we have a few more items completed. First up is an old tractor toy I picked up cheap off eBay.

While the box had seen it’s fair share of use, it was still sealed when I got it.

Walking Dead: Farm Livin’

With my latest Pit session ending my run through of the hammer figures, I wanted to get back to the campaign side of The Walking Dead: All Out War again.  One of the things that slowed me down was getting the maps done.  Since I like using the official maps but their color scheme doesn’t match my B/W scheme, I need to scan the maps, edit them into B/W and then reprint.

FedEx Office had the scanner so that went pretty fast and was ultimately only about $3 per map when I had the machine convert it to grayscale for me.  The biggest issue is that the maps are folded even more so than from the core set and it makes for some garish lines.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Tyreese Lays The Hammer Down

One victim remains in the Pit: Hammer Showdown. Tyreese, Prison Advisor is a weaker option than Pro-Football Tyreese (the current Pit King) but I decided to deck him out like his figure even though it breaks my normal 75 point limit.

Get In The Zone! Dropzone (beta v2)!

We had our first chance to play the new beta rules of Dropzone Commander (currently version 2.4.1).  It was nice to see Dropzone hit the table but since they’ve only released stats for the four core factions, I was relegated to playing with my friend’s UCM models.  We decided to keep it simple and play with only the starter set of models and out of five of us, we had all four factions covered.
