Metal Comes to Batman

I’m back from our CabinCon weekend and haven’t quite gotten everything unpacked yet but I did see some awesome news coming out of Knight Models.

Accidental Find: Toy Terrain

The Gaslands Facebook page is a non-stop flow of treasure hunters looking for the next cool Hotwheels at their local supermarket or thrift store.  While I’m all set to use my half-scaled version from Dropzone Commander, I was curious to see what could be had at my local Walmart.

While not really something to post a “look at me!” thread on Facebook, I did find this little Cars 3 toy interesting for the flaming oil drums.  They looked like they were in scale with my 28-32mm terrain so I took a gamble and picked it.  If nothing else, the car could go to my boy and the obligatory other toys could go to rest of the minions when I got home.

Self-Promotion and Self-Discipline

A quick shout out this Friday that BoardGameGeek’s monthly photography contest is up and looking for your thumbs! I have my Batman image entered so check it out if you like it and want to see it and other great images.

Life has gotten quite busy lately as we are moving so my posts will be a bit briefer as we go through all the packing and hoop-jumping that is involved with relocating, even when it is only a few miles away.

Photo Session: Bat Signal

Russ Spears’ comment on my Laser reminded me that I did grab a cheap Batsignal off Amazon for my Batman Minis Game. It works really well and I decided to mess around with some photo setups.

Batman In The Dark

With my new lights in place (having been put through their paces in my latest Walking Dead comic session) and a pressing need to complete one more Batman Miniature Game before the year end for my 6 X 6 challenge, we put together our last Batman game of the year.

Gotham City Reconstruction Efforts

Over the summer, I had made up some street lights for the Batman Miniature Game.  I thought they turned out well but after playing with they, they weren’t quite right: they weren’t very bright, the connections were fiddly and only four of the six original ones work properly now.  So I was looking for a replacement and thought I found a good idea using a set of small lights and new posts to hang them on.

As described in my previous post, the new lamp posts were too small so I was going to have to mess around.

Careful What You Click On

Busy week but I was able to start up a project on improving my Batman Miniature Game lights.  I went looking for a set of cheap street lamps and found a perfect set.

Crunch Time

This week starts the last five weeks of the year and looking at my 6 x 6 Challenge list, things are looking pretty tight. I have five more games to get in to complete my challenge with Walking Dead dragging its heels with the least games played. Sad as I thought it would be one of the easiest to complete but I got a bit sidetracked. Since the remaining items seem pretty straight forward, I’ll be focusing a bit more energy to get Walking Dead to the table to try to finish out my Chapters series and mess around with some of the new missions in the later rule books.

After Walking Dead, I will have a few stragglers with one game left each.  Championship Formula Racing should be easy to get a game in again and I plan to do that this week.  Dropzone Commander has it’s last game already set up on the calendar as the local group completes another game in their ongoing Winter Campaign.  That leaves Batman Miniature Game.

Batman and a Sweet Revenge

My impromptu painting session culminated in another Batman Miniature Game earlier last week. I kept the same crew as last time and my friend swapped out Comissioner Gordon for the SWAT Alpha member that I just painted up and Agent Ron.

I still had the last map set up so we decided to keep it and switch scenarios. This time we chose the Skirmish scenario which only cares about killing opponent figures. You still have objectives but the scenario doesn’t favor them any more than normal.
