I recently picked up a set of Dropzone Commander Storm/Thunder Wagons. For every other “dual” kit Dropzone has, these are great packs as you get the option for two unit types and if you magnetize, you’ll be able to field either option. I’ve done this with my Hannibal/Mehmed tanks and my Cyclone/Typhoon helicopters. When I went to open my Storm/Thunder wagons though, I found an issue.

Finishing up the Dropzone Commander Underground Hangar took a little longer than expected. The biggest issue was painting up the closed baffles for the hangar opening. I struggled a couple of times until I found a simple way to just get it down.
With the test build of my infinity mirror Underground Hangar for Dropzone complete, I’ve moved on to the actual build. I made a lot of progress this weekend but still have a ways to go.
In my pursuit of the old Dropzone Commander terrain pieces, I found the Underground Hangar on clearance locally and picked it up to add to the collection.
With my 80’s Transformers fix out of the way for Dropzone, I turn to another fixture from my youth: He-Man. I was trying to decide a color scheme for my Rakkon Krell command walker and thought maybe I could try out a little Battle Cat theme. I really enjoyed painting up my Walking Dead All Out War tiger so hopefully this wouldn’t be too difficult.
With the rest of my Optimus Prime pieces complete, I took the past few evenings to finish painting everything up. It’s nice to see everything come together fully as I’d imagined well over a year ago.
As I was building my first ruined building for Dropzone Commander, I was also looking to do something with the set of Shackleton Escape Pods I picked up. Looking closer at the building wreckage, it looked like something pretty epic struck the side of the building but what could have collapsed that part of the building so completely?
In an effort to vary some of my Dropzone Commander terrain, I recently picked up a set of mdf buildings from Empires at War. I usually wouldn’t waste time on more buildings because the paper terrain versions work well for me but these are nice in that they feature destroyed buildings with multiple floors. I spent the weekend getting one of the kits out and seeing what all I could do with it.
