After some gentle coaxing, I decided to take the plunge and put Pimp My Board Game on Instagram. I likely pretty late to the party but it’ll be nice to have an outlet that is a bit more instantaneous for those times when I’m out and about without a full on post needed. Not that I was worried but @pimpmyboardgame was available so I should be easy to find.

Well. After 3+ months, CMON was finally able to ship out the other half of my Song of Ice and Fire Miniatures Game pledge. I hadn’t realized until I saw the shipping notification what effect that botched delivery had on my desire to play the game. Nevertheless, it has arrived.
No, this won’t be a new series, it’s just a cheap alliteration. I still have stories that need be told from my adventures at Gen Con and I wanted to focus in on my Frostgrave experience in particular. The best event I participated at the ‘Con was the Frostgrave free-for-all hosted by the game’s designer Joseph McCullough. The host was nice, the game was great and everything was well run.
With my Gen Con days concluded, I only have a quick wrap-up of some final thoughts and this year’s spoils.
So I fixed all the sideways image files. Uploading from my phone tends to do that. The good news is I figured out a workaround for future phone posting. Even better news is that I carved out some time to wrap up my Walking Dead doings at Gen Con.
Day one Gen Con 2018 passed with a blur as I filled my schedule with events. It started off with X-wing 2.0’s preview tournament. This turned out to be more “preview” than “tournament” but was pretty fun even if winning didn’t actually mean anything.
We arrived in Indy with much less ado than last time. No redeye flights. Just a quick flight and hop over to the hotel. Gen Con scaled back their advertising this year and didn’t have anything at the airport this time. We did arrive a day before most people but they had adverts at the airport last time. All-in-all, traveling went well with one notable exception:
After some furious painting this afternoon, I finished up my Dropzone Commander army for the big campaign event at Gen Con 2018. I went through to finalize my list and found that I didn’t just need to work up my new commander Tilt Rotor aircraft but also needed to work up another squad of infantry and another set of tanks.
Lucky for me, the infantry I was painting used a pretty simple scheme of just taking the base primer grey, adding black details like the boots, belts, and helmet, then washing it all in pure GW Nuln Oil.
T-minus two days until Gen Con 2018 but we leave tomorrow so I gots some work to do today. Things are going alright as I was able to knock out some pending items yesterday. Namely, I finished up the X-wing Uglies event I’m running.
I finally got around to punching out and opening all of Warhammer Underworld: Shadespire’s bits as well as putting together the Stormcast side of the starter set.
