The big announcement this week was Fantasy Flight revising its cash cow, X-wing Miniatures game to a shiny 2.0.
X-wing has been so many things to me over the years but the game system was getting long in the tooth and I welcome the overhaul.
Still not a lot of time the week but I did find my paints and quickly finished up the last of the hammer figures: Tyreese, Prison Advisor. Of course my camera and lighting is also still packed away as well so we’ll have to deal with the dining lights and iphone camera.
Not much going on as my hobby time has been significantly reduced but I did find a set of minis I got right before I moved. This is a set of Westfalia’s Halfmen Goat Riders.
We finally completed our move and I had to say goodbye to my old gaming room in the basement. We had it made up pretty much exactly how I wanted it (given the space confines) but the new house has none of that so I’m left with quite a spartan setup.
Sorry, no Pit session today but this past weekend marked the annual Gen Con event list release. While the list isn’t exhaustive, as it only includes those that registered events during initial registration period, it is the bulk of the events that you’ll see and a good bell weather for what is hot right now.
HATE, the Kickstarter-Exclusive, over-the-top, gratuitous, violence-fest of a board game just had its pledge manager open and after looking at all the crap in that kickstarter, I think I’m in agreement with the critics…
Salute 2018 was this past weekend in London and while the new owners of Dropzone Commander didn’t put on the kind of spectacle that Hawk Wargames used to throw, they did have a few interesting items to pour over.
The news has been making the rounds across the websites but I thought I’d weigh in briefly on Ares Games’ announcement that they are developing a starship battle game set in the Battlestar Galactica universe. The game “scale” looks to be a dogfight scale game with players controlling a number of individual fighter scale ships.
To help focus my painting, I’ve decided to look at some themed Pit run-throughs. We’ve already seen that with my “kids night” session last week but this time I’m going to focus on figures with a particular weapon.
I’d already previewed these models last week but I figured it was time to try out this new series titled “who wielded it best.” These next few sessions will showcase the hammer wielders Clementine and Tyreese.
