Kill Team Second Chance

Kill Team got a revamp in the second half of 2021 and from the changes I was hearing, GW got my attention again. I did not have a good go at Kill Team 2018 as the rules just didn’t seem like something I’d like when I demoed it at a Warhammer store and then the terrible demo job I experienced at Gen Con a few months later nailed the coffin tight. But that is all in the past. Let’s see what got me back on the Kill Train.

All Moved In!

Homecoming

In the latest tale of the “move that never ends,” I flew back to Colorado to get the last bits of house out of storage and drive it almost a thousand miles to Texas. Not one to waste a trip to Colorado, I hooked up with Reese, Colton, and Sean to hit some favorites.

MoarCry

While things aren’t completely back to normal, I was able to get in another game of Warcry. Same lists again this time: my box-standard group of Untamed Beasts vs Colton’s box-standard group of Splintered Fang.

The Long Road To War

I’ve been watching Warcry (the Games Workship, Age of Sigmar skirmish game) from afar for a long time. I first played a demo at GenCon almost 2 years ago. Then I jumped in early last year by picking up the Untamed Beasts faction. During the painting binges of 2020, I also printed out and painted terrain as well as finished up painting the models as well. And now almost a year after completing all of that, I got in my first game.

Quoth Archaon: “Evermore”

90 consecutive days of painting was the eventual milestone I reached last Friday when I set out to see how long I could keep up a painting streak. I reached a point on Saturday where I had the choice of pushing onward or relaxing into a less regimented approach to my hobby work. The temptation to “chill” was too great and I decided to end the great ride.

Terraining The Days Away

As my “consecutive days painting” rolls on, I put it to good use by getting through some terrain projects I’ve been brewing for a while. First up is my Warcry (Fauxcry) starter set terrain.

Heeding The Call

Back a little over six months ago, I was at Gen Con and demoed Warcry from Games Workshop. The game was what I was looking for when I tried out Kill Team. Where Kill Team as a 40k-lite or quick game failed, Warcry really delivered. It took awhile to get in but I finally jumped in and I’m starting to get things rolling.

Gen Con Recap 2019: Day 2

With Day 1 of Gen Con down, my main dealer hall day comes up and I have several games I want to see in action to judge if they are shelf-worthy.
