Pimp My Board Game

a pursuit of fruitless endeavors and endless refinements

Plotting My Revenge

Ominous, I know. But sometimes you are so wronged, so completely abused that you can do nothing else save sulk off and concoct a plan to get even. In case you didn’t know, my Frostgrave wizard suffered a huge loss in the last game at the hands of a player that shall remain nameless (well nameless here. I drop all sorts of names in the report).

My animal companion, Mutt, died brutally on the fields of ruin. It was a heavy blow and there was nothing left to do but pick up the pieces of that broken heart and move on.

Fine Tuning

I’m wanting to move on to more varied setups for Test of Honour so I’m trying to tweak my “Dojo Assault” scenario a little more. My friend was able to come out again and run through another iteration of the scenario, last seen last week.

Frostgrave Campaign: Session 3

As mentioned earlier this week, a few of us got together to continue on with some more Frostgrave. We had originally called this a winter campaign but the days of winter have long past so I’ll just keep it simply as our campaign.

Back To Felstad

We were able to revisit the wonderful frozen city of Felstad this weekend as we threw down an epic game of Frostgrave. Sadly, I don’t have a report up yet but wanted to take a moment to show off some gratuitous setup shots that show off all the work Colton and Reese have done to bring Frostgrave to our table.

Back In The Samurai Again

While I was recapping my Gen Con adventures, I was not idle in my other projects. Things have been boiling under the surface and the time needed to prepare for Gen Con had stalled many other projects out. Now free to roam wild, I have set myself upon these languishing projects and worked them up into something useful.

Today is all about Test of Honour.

Gen Con 2019: Haul

With Gen Con over and my Recaps done, I finally had time to put everything away and get life back to normal. While putting everything back is never the most exciting thing to do, it does give me time to see what all I came home with.

Gen Con Recap 2019: Day 4

The final day of the Con is always bittersweet as I prepare for my big event: the annual Loopin’ Chewie tournament. While this is one of my favorite experiences, it also means that the convention is coming to a close.

Gen Con Recap 2019: Day 3

After running my events Friday night, Saturday is typically for me and where I stack most of my events. Typically, Saturday is the busiest day in the dealer hall so it works out well. Still… I can’t stay away so I had some time before my 11:00 am event so I went on tour.

Gen Con Recap 2019: Catacombs Cubes

While most of my time out at Gen Con is playing and hosting games, I also enjoy meeting up with publishers and designers to discuss their upcoming projects. I’ve been working with Aron West out at Elzra Games, developer of the Catacombs series of dexterity games. A new, non-dexterity game that Elzra has in development is Catacombs Cubes.

Gen Con Recap 2019: Day 2

With Day 1 of Gen Con down, my main dealer hall day comes up and I have several games I want to see in action to judge if they are shelf-worthy.
