Finishing The Warband

With our first game of Frostgrave hitting over the weekend, I spent last week finalizing the warband I had left. I only had to get through my Apprentice and Wizard. The Apprentice was pretty easy and I was pleased to see that his custom wand worked out.

Getting Our Paint On

I had this plan to put up this 2018 recap with charts and graphs but that felt a little too much for the first full work week back.  I’ll push that back a little bit so instead, I have some pics from another group painting session.  Like last time, my friend Reese hosted and three of us hung out, slapped paint down, and ate some good food.

The Gang Is All Here

So with Tog suiting up, I needed to get the rest of my team in order.  Our group decided to go easy on the first few Frostgrave sessions so we’re only pulling from the core rulebook.  My original warband had a Captain but those don’t appear until later so I came up with a different group.

Always Two There Are; No More, No Less

A master and an apprentice.  We’re going to focus on that apprentice today.  His name is Tog and he seemed very un-apprentice looking in my Frostgrave Warband.  When we last left him oh so many months ago, he was based a little and still very “master of hunt.”

Frostgrave: Red In Claw And Maw

This weekend, we got together for another painting bash to put together more Frostgrave figures.  This time I focused on painting up some of the wildlife my warband will include.

Painting Boot Camp: A Simple Start

As I mentioned on Friday, we had an intro to painting session with a friend that has decided to join the hobby fold. He’s been on the sidelines, listening in, but now he’s ready to get into the game.  I decided to start from scratch so we first put together a mini from the North Star Frostgrave Soldiers set and then dove in with the two models I assembled/primed earlier.

Frostgrave Friday

No, this won’t be a new series, it’s just a cheap alliteration.  I still have stories that need be told from my adventures at Gen Con and I wanted to focus in on my Frostgrave experience in particular.  The best event I participated at the ‘Con was the Frostgrave free-for-all hosted by the game’s designer Joseph McCullough. The host was nice, the game was great and everything was well run.

Gen Con 2018 Day 2

Gen Con 2018 Day two began a little later, thankfully and was tournament-free.  Up first was the Frostgrave Event with the designer, Joseph McCullough.

Venturing Into The Frozen City

With 22 days left until Gen Con, I figured I’d get a jump on an event I’m participating in and one that sounds quite fun. “Frostgrave: Bleak Sunrise with Creator” is a sold out introductory event into the world and rules of Osprey’s popular Frostgrave miniature skirmish game.

I’ve danced around playing this game for some time now.  Some friends of mine said they really liked it but it was a bit too random. Others just barely dipped their toe in and want to explore the game in more detail.  With this intro game at Gen Con, I’ll be able to get a firsthand view of the game with none other than the designer, Joseph A. McCullough.
