With my Gen Con days concluded, I only have a quick wrap-up of some final thoughts and this year’s spoils.

The final day for Gen Con 2018 was upon us and there wasn’t much for me to do except run my last two events of the Con. First up was my third annual Loopin’ Chewie tournament.
With half of the Con down, Saturday started with the usual crush of weekend attendees. I tend to avoid the dealer hall on the weekend as it is just too crowded. Instead, I had my Dropzone Commander event in the main event hall.
Gen Con 2018 Day two began a little later, thankfully and was tournament-free. Up first was the Frostgrave Event with the designer, Joseph McCullough.
So I fixed all the sideways image files. Uploading from my phone tends to do that. The good news is I figured out a workaround for future phone posting. Even better news is that I carved out some time to wrap up my Walking Dead doings at Gen Con.
Day one Gen Con 2018 passed with a blur as I filled my schedule with events. It started off with X-wing 2.0’s preview tournament. This turned out to be more “preview” than “tournament” but was pretty fun even if winning didn’t actually mean anything.
The first unofficial day of Gen Con started Wednesday and usually it is a quiet affair with us picking event badges and tickets and then settling in for some pre-Con gaming. This year, Fantasy Flight decided to mix it up and run their InFlight Report of what is up-and-coming before the Con started. They started off with some lighter announcements of Arkham Horror 3rd edition but then finally got into the meat with a big Star Wars Armada announcement.
We arrived in Indy with much less ado than last time. No redeye flights. Just a quick flight and hop over to the hotel. Gen Con scaled back their advertising this year and didn’t have anything at the airport this time. We did arrive a day before most people but they had adverts at the airport last time. All-in-all, traveling went well with one notable exception:
After some furious painting this afternoon, I finished up my Dropzone Commander army for the big campaign event at Gen Con 2018. I went through to finalize my list and found that I didn’t just need to work up my new commander Tilt Rotor aircraft but also needed to work up another squad of infantry and another set of tanks.
Lucky for me, the infantry I was painting used a pretty simple scheme of just taking the base primer grey, adding black details like the boots, belts, and helmet, then washing it all in pure GW Nuln Oil.
T-minus two days until Gen Con 2018 but we leave tomorrow so I gots some work to do today. Things are going alright as I was able to knock out some pending items yesterday. Namely, I finished up the X-wing Uglies event I’m running.
