Infinity Red Veil: Mission 3

I’m behind on my reports as I just finished up Mission 4 from Infinity’s Red Veil set but I was able to upload Mission 3. This time, we add some fun new rules with figures that have camouflage and jump capability. The objective is the same: kill ’em all so we kind of know what to expect.

Non-Photo Friday: Infinity Mission 2

I’m not quite done with my photo for the week but I did have a quick Infinity night cap after our second Frostgrave session.

Frostgrave Winter Campaign: Session 2

As I’ve been discussing off and on over the last few weeks, our Frostgrave bands were set to explore a vast underground library. This scenario is actually a slight variation of the core rules “The Library” with a mix of “A Haunted House.” I wanted to get in some fun monsters and the Wraiths served well as ancient librarians trying to keep their sanctuary free from plunder.

A Journey Through The Infinite

I posted this on Instagram last week (@pimpmyboardgame) but was actually able to play a little bit of Infinity this weekend.

My friend has been talking about trying to start up Infinity for over a year when he picked up the starter Operation Ice Storm. I’ve been wanting to get a little sci-fi skirmish game going, having considered MERCS first, and finally settled on Infinity due to all the good press and spectacular models.

Frostgrave Winter Campaign: Session 1B

With Colton and Reese’s game report in and my “narrative” session complete, I figured I’d wrap up the rest of the sessions by going over the some last items from reports with a quick write up of my game and a make-up game with the only member that couldn’t make it the first time around. But first, the centerpieces of our games, the Mausoleum and statues.

Frostgrave Winter Campaign: Therelin’s Tale, Part 1

Claw’s musty fur felt soft in her hands as Therelin stroked the old sleeping hound, his oversized head lying in her lap. The candles had long gone out save for one flickering guardian. Had the spell failed? It rarely did before but the night was queer and all the nervous tension leading up to this moment may have jinxed her calling. Still, all the old powers surged at the ritual’s completion so she felt something else must afoot.

The hound’s ear twitched towards the door and soon enough, the young wizard heard the slow, heavy footfalls of her former guardian climbing the stairs. With a heavy knock, the unlatched door opened, ushering in a chill wind that guttered the last candle out.

“Sorry your Grace, but the men are ready,” Tog said softly in the dark.

Frostgrave Winter Campaign: Session 1

We had our first full Frostgrave session over the weekend and it was a lot of fun. Five of us were able to make it out on the snowy night and so we split into two groups. I started writing up my session report but it mutated into some long narrative instead. I was having fun writing so I figured I’d keep the non-traditional report but will need more time to edit it a bit more. In the meantime, my friend Colton was able to write up his own report of the other game that was running on the other table:

Reese and I played The Mausoleum scenario in the core book. In this scenario, a crypt in the center of board stands silent watch over several valuable pieces of treasure. But something foul has gone wrong in this ancient tomb and the undead are restless.

On The Table: A Song Of Ice & Nightvaults

While my river slowly takes shape night after night, I was free to get in some gaming. This time, we broke out A Song of Ice & Fire Minis to get in our first game in quite awhile. I’m focusing on Lannisters and was excited to try out some of the Kickstarter figures I hadn’t been able to put to the table due to all the learning games I played at home and at Gen Con.

A Touch Of Frostgrave

After months of planning and painting, my group started up our first venture into Frostgrave. It was a compromise on many levels but the group is nothing if not good sports and we set our date and stuck to it last weekend. Six of us ultimately ended up in the campaign and this presented a slight challenge as there were quite a few that were brand new to Frostgrave and even brand new to tabletop minis in general. To ease everyone in, I concocted a simple intro scenario to bring us all together and get everyone on the same footing.

Dropzone Commander Second Edition Brawl

With the scenario set up and the lists made, the four of us started up our game of Dropzone Commander second edition.  For some of us, it was the first time using the rules while others have dabbled in the beta system for a couple of games.  We rolled off to pick sides and I won so I took the side aimed at the Orbital Laser entrance.  Our UCM player was my left neighbor, PHR across from me, and Scourge was to my right.  I was the only one with infiltrators so I set up my Sappers in the tallest building available to me.  Having never used the Pizarro walker, I decided to play him safe and hide him behind a building near my player edge.

sappers are ready to ruin someone’s day from their perfect vantage point.
