Pimp My Board Game

a pursuit of fruitless endeavors and endless refinements

Mammoth Undertakings

In Warhammer Age of Sigmar, there is a legendary model produced by the Games Workshop partner, Forge World that I always considered way out of reach for my fledgling bout into the Slaves to Darkness faction. The Chaos War Mammoth is a massive model and carries an equally heavy price point at around $300 because it is discontinued. It was costly even before it was discontinued so it was never really in the cards for me to use.

The Long Road To War

I’ve been watching Warcry (the Games Workship, Age of Sigmar skirmish game) from afar for a long time. I first played a demo at GenCon almost 2 years ago. Then I jumped in early last year by picking up the Untamed Beasts faction. During the painting binges of 2020, I also printed out and painted terrain as well as finished up painting the models as well. And now almost a year after completing all of that, I got in my first game.

Gifting Grasshoppers

While watching the Dice Abide twitchcast last week, I was fortunate enough to win one of their fantastic prize giveaways, a Grasshopper light dropship from Dragon’s Rest designs and printed by PrinTerrain. (yes, that is a lot of links for an opener)

Finding The Limits

I’m back working on some Age of Sigmar items but have some work ahead of me. I’ve been wanting a Chaos Warshrine for awhile but never picked one of for a variety of reasons. I found one cheap second-hand and snagged it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t complete and for some reason, I really wanted this missing item.

Dropzone Commander v2.2

The end of last week saw a lot of action drop for Dropzone Commander. TTCombat released an updated rule book and revised names/stats for almost every unit. Unfortunately, they bit off a bit more than they could chew as a server migration plus revamp of the website architecture behind their unit builder and the restocking of a bunch of models to their webstore caused some issues. Namely in the unit builder having issues porting in a lot of the updated info on top of layout/UI issues. These issues should clear up soon enough but lets move past that and look at what Dropzone 2.2 is looking like.

Infinity: Yu Jing Invincible Army

Yu Jing: Hǎidào Brothers

Back on to more painting, I picked up my Hǎidào units from Yu Jing and finished them off. I find that it is slow going but the main take away is that I’m pushing through and getting figures done. These two complete the Hǎidào trio as I finished up my Sniper earlier last year.

Infinity: Catscapades

TAG-Tastic

In the middle of last year, I was pretty excited about Infinity TAGs (the large mechs of the Infinity Universe). I went so far as to put them all up in a running catalog post (which I recently updated with some of the missing pics). Flash forward to earlier today and Corvus Belli announced a teaser for their next board game venture:

Back In The Saddle

It has been almost 3 months since I last picked up a brush. Luckily, this Tabletop Simulator project has got me to come back to work up a new model for Dropzone Commander, the Hydra Relay Command Hovercraft. It needed some help with it’s packaging so I decided to help things along.
