Pimp My Board Game

a pursuit of fruitless endeavors and endless refinements

Life Imitating Art Imitating Life

It’s funny how these circles get created. In Infinity, some of the changes to rules caused some frustration to those players used to the previous edition. Some get upset but an anonymous player decided to commission art to make fun of a ridiculous rule. The resulting art piece struck me as quite incredible in its subtlety and effectiveness.

Escalation League End

It’s been a while since I’ve posted but not for a lack of content but maybe the opposite. Lots of things going on as I pushed through the end of the Infinity Escalation League and visited friends in Dallas but not a lot of down time to catch up. I’m trying that now as I shake off the bad leavings of an annoying bout of covid. The last Block of full games came and went and ended up being a prep for our first local tournament.

Custom Remote

Infinity Escalation League keeps on trucking and we’ve passed through Block 3. The final block, where we take our lists all the way to 300 points, is upon us. For this block I’m hoping to get through some of the last pieces of the Dahshat army. There is a special remote in Haqqislam that Dahshat gets to take, the Rafiq remote, that I wanted to make some the special for. I’d seen someone else somewhere do it and decided I’d take a crack at it.

Rounding Out Dahshat

As I posted before, I didn’t really feel like I was playing the Infinity Sectorial Dahshat until my latest game when I was able to add in more of the Haqqislam faction pieces. I had a chance to take some photos so I’ll show them off here.

New Block, Full Game

We are in block 3 of the escalation league for Infinity and we’ve graduated to the full game. All units are available without restriction. All rules and equipment options are available and all mission rules and objectives are in game. The only difference in games at this point are the points are capped at 250 to help people still build and paint up to this level.

Haqq Models Inbound

I already had these new models on the table but didn’t get a chance to properly show them off. My first official Haqqislam faction models for my Dahshat force. First up is the Hunzakut.

Block 2 Complete

With the conclusion of the Block 2, we are halfway through our Infinity Escalation League. This block was 200 points, no link teams, no smoke, no TAGs. Remotes were and have been available and it was a day for Rui Shi, party master remote extraordinaire.

Infinity “N4.5”

Corvus Belli was at Adepticon this past week/end and unloaded a lot of new material for Infinity. A lot of it deals with a new Combined Army sectorial- the re-issue of the Morat Aggression Force but they also released the official Fireteam rules. The previous rules were released as “provisional” with the start of the latest edition N4. COVID and other factors delayed the final release until last week. The rules represent a pretty significant shift in how armies are created due to the incentives the Fireteams provide. This has caused me to unofficially call the new change N4.5. I’ll go over my take on this new change and see what it will mean for how I play Infinity in the future.

Working It Out

With the first block of Infinity Escalation League done, need to swell the Dahshat ranks a bit. I can’t just sit back on my painted Yu Jing units and pretend I’m playing Dahshat so bring on the recruits!

Finishing Out The Block

Infinity Spring Escalation League is in full swing as the last of block 1 games play out. I got two more quick 150 point games in this past week including playing against the Japanese Sectorial, which is the first time I’ve seen these units.
