We had our first chance to play the new beta rules of Dropzone Commander (currently version 2.4.1). It was nice to see Dropzone hit the table but since they’ve only released stats for the four core factions, I was relegated to playing with my friend’s UCM models. We decided to keep it simple and play with only the starter set of models and out of five of us, we had all four factions covered.

Salute 2018 was this past weekend in London and while the new owners of Dropzone Commander didn’t put on the kind of spectacle that Hawk Wargames used to throw, they did have a few interesting items to pour over.
Gaslands most popular game scenario is the “Deathrace” scenario featured prominently in the rulebook. The main feature of the scenario is a last-man-standing race around a course, passing through various gates to get through the finish. The Gaslands community has come up with a lot of different options for these gates but since I’m using a less popular scale at 10mm, I decided to check out some of the Dropzone Commander terrain out there and found a great set put out by 4Ground.
Well, the new owners of Dropzone Commander, TTCombat, held a live chat on the current state of the product line and that of it’s sister game, Dropfleet Commander. One of the admins for the main Facebook group posted the summary for those that couldn’t attend:
hmmm.
Last weekend I got a chance to use my Laser again in another Dropzone Commander game. This time it was with some friends in a three-army free-for-all.
This weekend saw the conclusion of our Dropzone Commander Winter Campaign.

The campaign coordinator had us bring our Aegis Orbital Defense Laser so I was glad to finish mine up for the game. I’ll have final pictures of that up later this week but for now, on with the game!
Just a quick little note on Dropzone Commander’s sister game Dropfleet Commander: TTCombat (who bought Hawk Wargames late last year) has gotten their webstore up and is celebrating by releasing some of the show exclusive models early. In there store, I stumbled upon this beauty:
I have the last game of our Dropzone Commander Winter Campaign coming up and the event coordinator wants to use the Aegis Orbital Defense Laser as the focal point. I’ve been wanting one of these for a long time so I thought it was high time I picked one up.
