Sweeping Terrain

Over the weekend, I had the chance to start up another terrain project I’ve been thinking about.  This time, it is a large 2′ x 2′ board for my Test of Honour set. I picked up large piece of 8′ x 2′ x 2 inch insulation foam with the intent of making something altogether different but that quickly didn’t pan out.  Switching gears, I decided to try my hand at a full gaming board instead.

Expanding Terrain Options

When the weather was a bit warmer, I played around with an idea I came across using expanding foam.  Andrew Pieper posted a how-to on making terrain hills from expanding foam insulation spray and it looked easy enough so I decided to give it a go.

Squaring Those Dropzone Paper Buildings

Almost a year ago, while participating in our local Winter Campaign of Dropzone Commander, the campaign manager came in with some nifty templates.  These templates are made to act like a base for the buildings to keep them square, which is an issue because the buildings usually fold flat for storage and don’t easily spring back into shape. I was able to use them in a game and I loved them but not owning a 3D printer, I could only look on.  I even tried my own hand at it with my CNC machine but it didn’t work out too well.

Thingiverse user Scooper4711 had the files up and with my friend’s 3D printer going strong, he was gracious enough to crank some out for testing.

Accidental Find: Toy Terrain

The Gaslands Facebook page is a non-stop flow of treasure hunters looking for the next cool Hotwheels at their local supermarket or thrift store.  While I’m all set to use my half-scaled version from Dropzone Commander, I was curious to see what could be had at my local Walmart.

While not really something to post a “look at me!” thread on Facebook, I did find this little Cars 3 toy interesting for the flaming oil drums.  They looked like they were in scale with my 28-32mm terrain so I took a gamble and picked it.  If nothing else, the car could go to my boy and the obligatory other toys could go to rest of the minions when I got home.
