Operation: Last Train Day 1

To end out this 2019, I decided to post my first Operation: Last Train report. Though I’ve been mostly cobbling together existing miniatures to get this game going, it still took a while for me to get it to the table.

Operation Last Train: New Whip

While I’m taking a little break from painting, I did have some items that I completed but never mentioned. One of them is what I will use for the Dropship in the charity-based miniatures game Operation Last Train. This game by Joseph McCullough features volunteer soldiers rescuing survivors from a planet overrun with enemies. To get in and out quickly, the teams need to move fast and Mantic’s TAD-65 Hornet Dropship from their Warpath miniatures game.

Weekend Update

This weekend turned out to be pretty busy as I pulled a double session with Frostgrave in my new library maze and then a quick follow-up game of Infinity.

Charity Wargaming

I ran across an interesting idea from Frostgrave designer, Joe McCullough, called Operation Last Train. The game is a new miniatures game set in a future world, doomed and overrun with voracious predators. Your team of volunteer soldiers are the only hope remaining to the scant survivors left on a planet scheduled for destruction.

What made me sit up and take notice of the project is that McCullough tied the project creation to the charity organization, Save the Children. While the rules are free, I hope that you decide it is worth a few bucks to support the designer’s wishes to use our fun, brutal hobby to do some good around the world. I’ve already donated and I’m starting to read through the rules to see what all it needs. Like a lot of McCullough’s work, it only requires what you have on hand or what miniatures you want to buy.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

From my family to yours, have a safe and Merry Christmas!

War of the Ring Anniversary Edition

As I teased at the end of my post last week, my copy of War of the Ring (second edition) Anniversary Release from Ares Games arrived.  I finally got a chance to check it out and it is, in a word, glorious.
