A new medical breakthrough is sweeping through the Colonial scientific community this morning. News of a radical new procedure has produced the first viable removal of the horrible parasitic Scourge from an embedded host. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The breakthrough comes through an aggressive removal and rehabilitation process pioneering in several large aerial species designated SC-23-F, or “Vampires” as they are known, locally.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is too early to tell.<\/p>Dr. Yeuseff Feitmarr on if the procedure can be copied to other organisms.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While every previous attempt to remove the offending parasite from the host has failed, Drs Yeusef Feitmarr and Nile Reezu decided to work on several imprisoned Scourge infected “Vampires”. Based in their research on natural Vampires and the strange regenerative properties the species holds, the scientists chose the large carnivores as a perfect test case to work on their procedure. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While much of the research is unknown at this time, Colonial Alpha has learned that the unique combination of host size and healing properties of the Vampire were critical to this first success. After the removal of the parasitic Scourge brain, the team had to also remove many of the genetic “enhancements” the Scourge parasite grew on the host.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Vampire’s case, this was the redundant optical set up (SC-23-F is naturally a blind creature relying mainly on sound to navigate through its world) and the acid spew apparatus. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked what this success may mean for the future of the war, Dr. Feitmarr said that it was too long of a procedure to occur on the battlefield and requires months of adaptive rehabilitation. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When prompted on if the procedure could apply to other organisms, Dr. Feitmarr said “it is too early to tell.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
