The game &#8220;scale&#8221; looks to be a dogfight scale game with players controlling a number of individual fighter scale ships.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4732\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4732\" class=\"wp-image-4732 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest-600x450.jpg 600w, http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest-198x149.jpg 198w, http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/900x_BSG_Playtest.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4732\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">image from the publisher<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Since it is a brand new announcement, there isn&#8217;t a lot of detail but there is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gioconomicon.net\/modules.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=9428&amp;title=scopriamo-battlestar-galactica-starship-battles-con-angiolino-e-mainini#English\">enough out there<\/a> to realize that Ares Games&#8217; has some pretty interesting concepts in mind.\u00a0 Some of the highlights I saw were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Movement independent of facing<\/li>\n<li>Independent missile\/ordnance tracking<\/li>\n<li>Dice-based combat<\/li>\n<li>Experience system for Pilots<\/li>\n<li>Capital ships included<\/li>\n<li>Campaign-style play options<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So even though it was just announced, there is quite a bit of detail to digest.\u00a0 The first public outing of the game will be at Gen Con in August.\u00a0 Ares Games doesn&#8217;t show that well at Gen Con so I hope they beef up their presence in Indianapolis as I&#8217;m usually disappointed with their booth&#8217;s lack of actual product.\u00a0 I know that this convention is not the easiest for publishers due the expense but hopefully Ares will at least bring enough product to show off a few demos.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a huge fan of X-wing so this game will have to really make good on a lot of the cool innovations mentioned above to get me to bite.\u00a0 Aside from X-wing, another potential barrier is I&#8217;m not a fan of the show.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not that I don&#8217;t know it, I actually am one of the few that just didn&#8217;t enjoy the first few episodes and didn&#8217;t find it worth pushing further into the series.\u00a0 That won&#8217;t make me look at the actual game with any negativity, just that the game won&#8217;t benefit from getting a free-pass for weak details like other games might when my fanboy-ism might override my good sense.<\/p>\n<p>The development history of this game is pretty interesting as well as the team had pitched a potential Battlestar version of their Wings of War (now Wings of Glory) line to Fantasy Flight Games back in 2007 but for several reasons, it never came to light.
