{"id":310,"date":"2016-04-30T13:38:59","date_gmt":"2016-04-30T19:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/?p=310"},"modified":"2018-01-03T20:06:49","modified_gmt":"2018-01-04T03:06:49","slug":"pitchcar-transitions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/?p=310","title":{"rendered":"Pitchcar Transitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a huge fan of dexterity based games so it likely comes as no surprise that I&#8217;m really into the disc racing game, <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/150\/pitchcar\">Pitchcar<\/a>.\u00a0 This game features finished MDF boards cut to slot car racetrack pieces that you freely assemble into a race course and flick your &#8220;race car&#8221; disc around, simulating an F1-style race.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fairplaygames.com\/pics\/Pitchcar.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Like a lot of high-end dexterity games, Pitchcar is pretty pricey.\u00a0 I was able to find the sister game, <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/boardgame\/14254\/pitchcar-mini\">Pitchcar Mini<\/a>, on clearance and snagged it and a few expansions.\u00a0 While the mini version is great, especially for little kids, I&#8217;d still hoped to find the full-size version available. A year later I was able to find the main game on sale as well and promptly picked it up.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, I had both versions and it seemed a shame to only ever use half the pieces I had so I wanted to make some sort of transition piece to be able to race on both sizes.\u00a0 I had a few options on how I would approach it but my decision was made for me when Boardgamegeek user <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/user\/Flashhawk\">flashhawk <\/a>posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/boardgamegeek.com\/filepage\/129936\/pitchcar2mini-adapters-svg\">Pitchcar-to-Pitchcar-mini conversion template<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With some old laminated pressboard in the garage, I printed out the template and got to work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-cutout.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-314\" src=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-cutout-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"pitchcar cutout\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-cutout-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-cutout.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First thing was I attached the printed sheet to the board with a glue stick and then Dremelled the pattern out.\u00a0 This was the first time I&#8217;d used the Dremel for this kind of work and it was pretty sloppy.\u00a0 By the end of the piece, I was able to get a handle on it. It will be rough but still serve its purpose.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-sanding.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-317\" src=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-sanding-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"pitchcar sanding\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-sanding-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/pimpmyboardgame.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/pitchcar-sanding.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Dremel leaves a lot of rough edging so over to the belt sander I go.\u00a0 This also helped smooth out some of the lines and contours.
