I’m back working on some Age of Sigmar items but have some work ahead of me. I’ve been wanting a Chaos Warshrine for awhile but never picked one of for a variety of reasons. I found one cheap second-hand and snagged it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t complete and for some reason, I really wanted this missing item. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The piece in question (obviously) was the shrine’s spell\/prayer book. I really liked the overall theme of this paintjob I found and wanted to duplicate it on my warshrine but the book was a pretty critical piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I could go try to find it from a bits seller on eBay but thought that the object is pretty simple. I’ve been getting better at CAD so why not give it a try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I booted up Fusion360 and started out with some simple shapes. This is really nothing more than basic rectangles and triangles extruded to the full shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pages were just spline lines duplicated and then extruded to the final shape in the book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, I got a little “fancy” and added the main book spine and book stand. Even though it was really small, I wanted to try this on my FDM printer just to see if it could handle something like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I finished things off with an oversized Eightpoints bookmark and called it good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Printing at the highest quality (0.1mm), I was a little too optimistic and tried printing with just a skirt, which promptly failed into spaghetti. Then I went with a brim which also failed so I finally turned to a full raft. The raft worked and a new chaos prayer book is ready for the masses to be blessed with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we can see, the priest has found a suitable convert and is showing them all the good things that can be learned from the Chaos gods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no doubt this is an FDM print but it still has some details in there and it can definitely be called a book so I’m satisfied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is straight from the printer with the raft and supports cut away. I still have a bit of clean up I want to do as well as some post-processing. I’m going to try some liquid greenstuff and some fine sanding so see if I can polish the book up some more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I can smooth out the lines a bit, it should paint up pretty easy and I can use the painting to hide the low fidelity even more. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
