Walking Dead Wednesday: Mantic Is Blogging All Week

In a nice lead up to Gen Con, Mantic Games is blogging all about their Walking Dead games this week. It’s still early in the week but we’ve already seen talk about what direction they are heading next, the new Here’s Negan game, and the resin Governor set.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Miles Behind Us Campaign

With my Miles Behind Us expansion complete, I’ve decided to log in the full narrative campaign.  I’ll be using the Story Mode rules and participants required for each scenario but will use the expanded “Life and Death” rules from the Advanced Rules – Campaign Play. The only modification to that final rule is that if the survivor is a casualty and rises again as a walker, the survivor has also permanently died and will be considered removed from future scenarios. As always, I’ll be using my hardcore solo rules as well.

I’ve already got my first game in the bag but I’d like to switch things up a bit on my reports and go back to my comic book style format.  These won’t be as “immersive” and I’ll limit each scenario to 6 pages but it’ll be nice to make some comics again.  It will also help differentiate these reports from several of the same sessions I’ve already reported on.  Comic session reports do take a bit longer to complete but I hope to have the first session done by next week.

The Walking Dead: All Out War Checklist

In addition to my weekly Walking Dead Wednesday and 1×100 challenge (one game one hundred times), I’m also trying get the miniatures for The Walking Dead: All Out War painted up.

To ease the workload and stave off burnout, I’ll be painting based on what scenarios I have to play coming up next. To better understand which scenarios will be the easiest to start, I’ll break them down by figure and grey out the ones I’ve already completed.  I won’t include walkers unless a scenario calls for a particular figure or walker type.

Half Year Game Challenge Report

So it is now July and that means I’m halfway through my game challenges so it is time to check in with how I’m doing.

For my “1×100” challenge, where I aim to play at least 100 different games at least one time, I’m doing pretty well.  58 total unique games so far for the year means I’m beating the average.  CabinCon is always a good time to hit a wide variety of games and it did not disappoint.  On the other challenge, however, I’m obviously struggling.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Here’s Negan

Late last week, Mantic’s stand-alone board game based on The Walking Dead, titled “Here’s Negan,” got an early leak thanks to an impatient web developer at ICv2.  The link was only up for a few hours before they realized the blunder and pulled it down but earlier this week, they released the details again.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Last Of the Miles Behind Us Expansion

Not much time this past week but I did finish up several more survivors.  This time it’s time to finish out the ladies of the Greene family.

New Temptations, New Shinies, And New Upcomings

I got a chance to play Games Workshop’s Warhammer Underworld: Shadespire the other day and that is a fine little piece of miniature bliss. The last GW game I played and enjoyed was Space Hulk 3.0, but I don’t own it. I own a copy of Dreadfleet but it is still in shrink and I haven’t gotten enough of a push to rectify that.  Shadespire, however, seems right up my alley.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Barn Raisin’

After having printed up another piece of paper terrain to complete my scenery needs for the Miles Behind Us campaign for The Walking Dead: All Out War, I finally tackle building the simple barn from Stoelzel’s Structures line of paper terrain.

Walking Dead Wednesday: Farmville

I’m still working on the farm material for the Miles Behind Us scenarios and this time we have a few more items completed. First up is an old tractor toy I picked up cheap off eBay.

While the box had seen it’s fair share of use, it was still sealed when I got it.

Walking Dead: Farm Livin’

With my latest Pit session ending my run through of the hammer figures, I wanted to get back to the campaign side of The Walking Dead: All Out War again.  One of the things that slowed me down was getting the maps done.  Since I like using the official maps but their color scheme doesn’t match my B/W scheme, I need to scan the maps, edit them into B/W and then reprint.

FedEx Office had the scanner so that went pretty fast and was ultimately only about $3 per map when I had the machine convert it to grayscale for me.  The biggest issue is that the maps are folded even more so than from the core set and it makes for some garish lines.
