Walking Dead: All Out War Session – Ch. 3 Campfire Tales

In my comic sessions, I’d mapped out an order of the existing scenarios in the Days Gone Bye expansion to fit the storyline I wanted to create.  My goal in running those was to use the recommended set up so I could also follow the story and balance the designers were creating. In plotting our my own story, I couldn’t get one of the scenarios to fit so I decided to play it “straight” at the end of my 6 x 6 challenge.

Batman In The Dark

With my new lights in place (having been put through their paces in my latest Walking Dead comic session) and a pressing need to complete one more Batman Miniature Game before the year end for my 6 X 6 challenge, we put together our last Batman game of the year.

Walking Dead Comic Session Report #5

The year is drawing to a close and I wanted to make sure I got one last issue of my “The Real Adventures of Rick and Glenn!” comic in.  This issue completes the first arc I had intended and I hope to continue the next arc in 2018.

Enjoy! (click here or on the cover image to go to the comics page)

Testing My Honour

Right before Christmas, my friend came over jonesing for some gaming before the break.  After an interesting game of Photosynthesis with the missus, she adjourned and we had a few game options to hit as the night was still young.

We settled on trying out a new-to-us minis game: Test of Honour.  Test of Honour is a feudal Japan skirmish game centering around your Samurai Hero and his commoner followers.  Produced by Warlord Games, it is an inexpensive minis game (relatively speaking) as it has a pretty significant group of forces in the $50 core set.

Silverstone 2-Lap With Me And 7 AI Racers

The weather finally turned around here and killed my last Championship Formula Racing game night so I decided to end my 2017 CFR 6×6 challenge with a maxed-out solo race against seven Historical Drivers.

Gotham City Reconstruction Efforts

Over the summer, I had made up some street lights for the Batman Miniature Game.  I thought they turned out well but after playing with they, they weren’t quite right: they weren’t very bright, the connections were fiddly and only four of the six original ones work properly now.  So I was looking for a replacement and thought I found a good idea using a set of small lights and new posts to hang them on.

As described in my previous post, the new lamp posts were too small so I was going to have to mess around.

Dropzone Commander Winter Campaign, Game 3

After painting up my Marine Force Recon group for Dropzone Commander, I thought I’d be all set for our next Winter Campaign game but at the last minute, I decided to switch gears and go back to playing the Feral side of Resistance and play with the Skulltaker and Berserkers I painted up a while back.

This build (now at 1,600 points) would need another unpainted group of minis, my Occupation Veteran infantry. So here it was again, furiously painting up a set of minis right before a game.

Nostalgia Is A Powerful Drug

Playing X-wing reminded me of another project I’ve been cooking for awhile.  It’s getting to the point in my pimping sickness that I now will start laying the ground work for pimping out a game long before I get it.  As is the case in this 80’s overload game, Lazer Ryderz by Greater Than Games.

Going Big With X-wing

On a whim, we decided to change things up this weekend and break out an old standby, X-wing Miniatures Game.  Maybe it was the new movie coming out this week or just seeing all those great little ships sadly sitting on the shelf with no pew-pews to be heard.  Either way, we decided to rectify that situation and since we knew we’d make a night of it, we should go big.  Epic-ly big.

It’s been a while since I hit X-wing and even longer since I’ve seen the Epic rules and Huge ships but we did some homework and wrote up some 300 point lists. That was the easy part. Setting up was another 2+ hours trying find all my ships and cards and setting up a 6×3 table space.  Eventually we got it all settled and were ready to play.
